RAND KRAMER
40” x 20” Diptych Framed
Acrylic, oil, oil pastel and graphite on canvas
Based on Greek mythology, Ariadne, daughter of King Minos of Crete, helped Theseus escape the Labyrinth after he slew the Minotaur, only to be abandoned by him on the island of Naxos. There she was discovered by Dionysus, who recognized her worth, made her his wife, and placed her jeweled crown among the stars as the constellation Corona Borealis. Her story is often seen as a symbol of transformation, where loss and betrayal give way to recognition, renewal, and enduring love.
